The enemies being demons mean they can pop up almost anywhere. You explore while fighting enemies and doing puzzles. The game is structured kind of like a Resident Evil game. He also has a few ranged attacks for taking out demons that are harder to reach. Sam has his katana which after picking up an elemental orb gives him the ability to cast magic super moves like a lightning combo or a hurricane. A lot of the systems in this game would later be incorporated into Devil May Cry. Luckily a race of Oni give him a gauntlet which allows him to absorb demon souls to increase his power and fight the demon hordes. I had tried to play it once and just wasn't in the right mood to play it so I moved on hopeful the day would come that I would finally dive into one of Capcom's classic franchises.įor those who don't know Onimusha Warlords was a extremely early PS2 game by Capcom that like most of their games was made in an attempt to use the Resident Evil formula on other types of settings. I picked up this remaster about a year later and like most games I tend to buy just sat there in the backlog. Fast forward to 2019 and Capcom decided to remaster Onimusha 1. Sadly I never had a chance to play any of the games. I eventually went back and played the previous RE games but it wasn't until my cousin showed me Onimusha 3 that I became away of the series. I was never really interested in Capcom games until RE4 so most of their catalog just completely passed me by. So I completely missed Onimusha as a series.
